About the Journalist:

Francesca Bentley is a first-year student at Stanford University where she is pursuing an M.A. in International Policy with a specialization in International Security. For undergrad she attended Spelman College at which she attained a B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Psychology. Since beginning her undergraduate studies, Francesca has studied and worked abroad twice, which has only fueled her affinity for international relations and foreign policy. In the summer of 2020, Francesca worked with faculty at UC San Diego's Center for Peace and Security Studies to investigate how countries relate to one another on a deterrence basis, while also starting her role as Pulitzer Center Reporting Fellow. This previous summer, Francesca assisted an MIT professor in collecting financial and voting-related data to uncover companies’ spending habits in order to quantify their commitment to social justice causes as a means to facilitate conscious consumption by consumers. Francesca aspires to one day work in the geo-political consulting or intergovernmental organization sphere.
