Explore Chinese Brush Painting with Mosaic America In-Person
Presented by Felix Chan Lim, Ph.D. and Bobbi Makani, Ph.D.
Chinese Brush Painting is one of the world's most ancient and enduring art forms, with a history spanning over 6,000 years. This captivating and distinctive medium demands precision, where each brush stroke is a deliberate and defining expression of the artist's intent. Though the final composition may appear simple, it reflects a deep and intricate process, requiring exceptional skill and mindfulness.
In this session, we will explore a carefully selected theme that highlights the unique qualities of Chinese Brush Painting. Participants will be introduced to the theme through a concise overview, followed by a live demonstration of brush techniques. Attendees have the opportunity to explore the art by doing some hands-on painting. This experience is designed to deepen your appreciation for the profound artistry and cultural significance of this timeless practice.
In addition to this activity, Ouater Truong Sand will share a drawing exercise for library patrons. Ouater (pronounced “water”) is a teaching artist based in San José. His work plays on the imagination and rangesfrom paintings to sculptures to films.
The Los Gatos Library recognizes the diversity of our community and is committed to accessibility for all patrons.
